3D Sensors are a collection of key technologies and components which enable and expand the range of myriad products across industries. Gesture recognition, facial and motion detection, industrial automation, home automation and security are most popular areas enabled exclusively due to the availability of 3D sensors and systems to various product OEMs and ODMs. These components and technologies are embedded in the products or in certain cases act as a standalone segment, depending on the use case scenarios.

Gesture recognition is one of the key segments driving the growth of the 3D Sensors market and is defined as a technology of interpreting human gestures to perform computational and consequent mechanical tasks by the use of sensing technologies and mathematical algorithms. Innovative products and technologies are revolutionizing the 3D Sensor market in Consumer Electronics. The 3D sensing boasts features like scanning real time objects, face recognition and background substitution. Google recently launched a prototype of its new smart phone 'Tango'.
