Abstract
Benefiting from Chinese specialists returning from overseas, European and US
capital, and demand growth in overseas markets, the Chinese solar photovoltaic
industry started to emerge in 2004. Development of midstream solar cell and
module companies has been particularly quick. As a result of the global
financial crisis that surfaced in 2008, the supply-demand dynamic changed, raw
material prices fell rapidly, idle production capacity became more evident,
inventory price declines caused losses, and the industry felt capital
pressure. Chinese companies are trying to deal with the after-effects of the
financial crisis, and are looking towards domestic demand to spur new growth.
This report analyzes the development of first- and second-tier crystal silicon
solar cell and module companies in China, including their capital funding,
production capacity, product status, R&D operations, sales networks, and
client portfolio.
