Abstract
IPTV development in China began in 2005. An industry chain was formed
consisting of network equipment companies, telecom operators, content
providers, and IP STB companies. Key IPTV system companies include UTStarcom,
VCOM, ZTE, Huawei, and Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell. This report examines the
current development of the IPTV sector in China and analyzes the two major
vendors UTStarcom and VCOM, including their operational performance, R&D and
product development, as well as key factors for their future development.
