Abstract
This IDC study includes vendor revenue shares for applications processors
and media coprocessors in mobile phones, converged mobile devices, and
smart handheld devices only.
"2008 was another year of above-average growth
for mobile device applications processors and media coprocessors. With revenue
growth of 3.7%, this segment outpaced the overall growth of
the mobile semiconductor market, as the surge of multimedia functionality
in high-end mobile phones continues to cascade to midrange and
even entry-level segments." Flint Pulskamp, program manager, Wireless/Mobile Semiconductors
