Abstract
This IDC study outlines our forecast for Canadian information technology (IT)
spending and growth over 18 vertical markets for the five-year period between
2008 and 2012. It updates our previous forecast document Canadian IT 2007-2011
Forecast by Vertical Market (IDC #CA12SMBC7), and its purpose is to outline the
highlights, drivers, and inhibitors over these vertical markets and how current
trends are impacting IT spending. It also provides details of IDC Canada' s
updated forecast for Canadian IT spending, broken down by IT segment (hardware,
software, and IT services) for these vertical markets.
"In this increasingly complex marketplace, all the vertical markets are
becoming intrinsically connected. Understanding the linkages between verticals
and their unique drivers and inhibitors will facilitate a deeper understanding
of the market as a whole and how to utilize IT to increase efficiency." - Emily
Taylor, research associate, Customer Segments
