Abstract

This IDC study examines and forecasts the market for bundled communications services revenue in the United States over the five-year period ending in 2012. Bundled communications services consist of two or more subscriptions purchased by a household that include a combination of voice, video, broadband, and mobile wireless offerings. The U.S. market for bundled services will grow from approximately $75 billion in 2007 to just under $112 billion in 2012.

"Bundles will continue to grow and serve as the foundation for consumer services revenue," says Matt Davis, director of IDC' s Consumer Multiplay program. "However, the power of the bundle as a customer retention vehicle has weakened. Service providers that solely rely on the convenience of one bill, price breaks, and unified customer support will ultimately lose share to those that have created an integrated multiplay service suite that fuses these services together."
