Abstract
This IDC study contains our worldwide IP PBX and desktop hardware IP phone
forecast for 2008-2012. It provides a forecast for the total IP PBX market
(pure and hybrid) by lines/seats shipped, IP PBX systems, and desktop hardware
IP phones shipped. IDC estimates for manufacturers' revenue and end-user
revenue are also included.
"IDC believes that 2007 marked the year when the incumbent telephony vendors
began to feel the impact that Microsoft' s entrance with Office Communications
Server (OCS) 2007 on the market," states Nora Freedman, an analyst in the
Enterprise Networks group. "Despite the emergence of desktop-based UC solutions
in the PBX market, IDC still believes that IP PBX adoption will be the leading
indicator of future UC success stories."
