This IDC study presents the results of IDC's 2016 MaturityScape Financial Management of IT Services Survey and should be viewed as a supplement to IDC MaturityScape: Financial Management of IT Services. Together, they provide a comprehensive overview of the IDC's financial management of IT services maturity model.The current study presents quantitative research that assesses organizations' current state of functionality and maturity. The results in this study will enable organizations to work with IDC to assess their financial management of IT services maturity level against industry benchmarks and make data-driven decisions based on their organizational goals. This study enables organizations to:Assess their current state and readiness to undertake financial management of IT as a proactive business practice to better manage the IT business.Benchmark ITFM maturity against the maturity level of their peers and business needs.Uncover maturity gaps and identify areas in need of improvement in support of managing IT as a true service business.Use the baseline to define short- and long-term goals and create improvement plans."Based on the findings in this study, we suggest that organizations take a hard look at how the entire IT organization business model is structured; it's critical to reinvent and reposition IT to operate as a true service business," says Bob Multhaup, adjunct analyst with IDC's IT Executive Program (IEP).
