This IDC study presents software revenue by vendor share for the nonrelational database management systems (NDBMSs) market for 2013-2015. It includes a discussion of market dynamics and strategies, with actionable advice for vendors. "This is a broad market, and there is a distinct difference in the strategic positions of the older NDBMS products, such as those in the navigational (or pre-relational) DBMS, multivalue DBMS, end-user DBMS, and object-oriented DBMS, and the newer dynamic data managers and dynamic data collection managers," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for the Database Management Software research program at IDC. "Amazon, Google, MongoDB, DataStax, and the key Hadoop distributors (Cloudera, Hortonworks, and MapR) are clearly setting the pace for growth, but there are a number of large, established vendors that have added various dynamic data management systems software to their portfolio of offerings."
