This IDC study highlights how the landscape of IT outsourcers is shifting as players are utilizing different strategies to either maintain leadership or climb the ranks to become the leader in this market. For further details, see IDC's Worldwide Services Taxonomy, 2016."The IT outsourcing services market is undergoing a fundamental and radical change as it is increasingly confronted with integrating new capabilities, such as cloud and automation; competing with players using fundamentally different business models to provide the same set of services; and needing to move much more quickly to ensure relevance," says David Tapper, VP of Outsourcing, Managed, and Offshore Services at IDC. "Success will require that providers of ITO services using traditional delivery methods (e.g., labor) understand their core competencies, clearly define their brand image, provide end-to-end capabilities, establish an optimal business model strategy for automation, implement a strategy to drive changes in financial metrics, develop new channel models, invest in providing managed IT for IoT-enabled environments, and build a blueprint and road map to manage the transition to cloud services."
