This IDC study is aimed to help the CIO, CFO, and senior executives in IT financial management and IT service management to understand where they are positioned in terms of the maturity of their IT financial services management business process. It describes IDC's Financial Management of IT Services MaturityScape framework, which describes the stages of process maturity and the dimensions and sub-dimensions that must be achieved to progress toward an optimized position. In addition, high-level guidance is offered as a generic plan to help migrate through the stages to an advanced maturity level of IT financial services management.
"For the CIO to transform IT to a viable service business, it is essential to restart and redefine the IT business into something that IT customers will "want" to employ to meet their IT needs," says Robert Multhaup, adjunct research advisor with IDC's Research Network. "This is the greatest measure of value: for IT to become such an essential business partner that the customer pays willingly for a portfolio of services that is clearly helping meet business objectives."
