This IDC study provides an overview of the cloud market and segments cloud buyers based on IDC's premiere, global cloud survey, CloudView, conducted in 2014. The survey shows how adoption of cloud - public and private - varies by organization size and age, industry, and region. The study also highlights key challenges facing cloud users that are looking to adopt more cloud and examines future trends in the market from an end-user's perspective.
According to Benjamin McGrath, senior research analyst, IDC's SaaS and Cloud Software research practice, "One of the key trends observed in the survey is the desire of cloud users to move toward a hybrid cloud environment. Included in this document are steps that organizations are already taking to achieve these goals; however, along with increased adoption of cloud - and different types of cloud - there is an increasing gap between the number of organizations adopting more cloud services and those that are able to manage them effectively."
