This IDC study covers the demographics and methodology of the EMEA Enterprise Communications Survey. IDC's annual survey provides valuable insight into the attitudes of 1,569 qualified companies in EMEA. This study looks at 3rd Platform trends around companies' technology and services usage, as well as strategies and investment priorities. It also serves as a guide to understand a series of 13 reports that focus on the priorities and strategic intentions of executives responsible for enterprise networks and related services.
"The industry is in a transition phase, moving from the 2nd Platform (equipment-centric perspective) to what IDC calls the 3rd Platform, which is driven by mobile devices and applications, cloud services, Big Data analytics, and social technologies," said Sylvia Wunsche, Research Analyst, IDC EMEA Telecoms and Networking. "Companies are in the process of embracing this transition by investing in new technologies and services. More than 23% of companies in EMEA said they are working in a cutting-edge IT environment where new technologies and services are deployed quickly, while only 17% reported that they are working in an IT environment where new technologies are adopted slowly."
