This IDC study discusses in detail the results of our 2014 CloudView Survey, including industry breakdowns from multiple angles as well as individuals' perceptions based on the age of the respondent's company. In 2012-2014, IDC conducted surveys on cloud professional services providers. Thousands of buyers of cloud professional services have participated, and tens of thousands of responses have been collected, with the goal of creating studies on the perception of key players in the cloud professional services space. The data from 2014 is discussed extensively; multiyear trends are examined, followed by an explanation of the data's strengths and limitations.
"This analysis looked at data obtained in the 2014 CloudView Survey and specifically looked at U.S. respondents spending intentions, as well as their perceptions of the most qualified provide of cloud professional services," said Chad Huston, senior research analyst at IDC. "Key findings of the study include organizations implementing a public cloud strategy to assess the need for professional services roughly in the same proportion to those implementing a private cloud strategy; respondents having a slightly stronger preference to procure cloud services primarily through a value-added business partner, such as a systems integrator, compared with procuring cloud services directly from a cloud service provider; and respondents perceiving Microsoft as the most qualified provider of cloud professional services overall, which has been the case for all three years this survey has been conducted."
