"Within the hardcopy market, there are still pockets of growth and opportunities for expansion. The market has swayed heavily toward MFP devices over recent years, while most types of printers are declining. The specific growth areas will be business inkjets, color MFPs, and production devices. Although these areas will increase, there will be declines in segments such as monochrome laser and consumer inkjets. IDC expects that there will be some casualties in the hardcopy market as the declining market means there will simply be too many brands competing for sales," said Phil Sargeant, program director, IDC Imaging Hardware and Document Solutions.
