This IDC study analyzes the uptake of SAP HANA by Asian businesses. It also provides a brief overview of the services offerings by leading SAP services providers in the region.

"Asian businesses have been slow to adopt HANA. SAP's move to provide greater flexibility in delivery and pricing models may increase adoption. However, IDC expects that large-scale adoption will take close to three to five years," says Prabhitha Sheethal, market analyst, IDC APEJ IT services. According to Mayur Sahni, senior research manager, IDC APEJ Cloud and IT services, "There is an immense amount of interest from customers in adopting Big Data solutions. The most established requirement is using structured internal data for operational efficiencies and enhanced productivity. This is also in line with a broader objective for digital transformation and several of these engagements have elements of cloud and mobility intrinsic to the transformation." SAP Services efforts for customer enablement are noteworthy and will be crucial for driving the adoption of HANA. Simultaneously, the ramp-up in services capabilities from partners has been strong, yet consulting-led players are evidently in a better place to engage with customers.
