This IDC study examines the current state of HTML5 in the wake of the finalizing of the HTML5 standard and provides insight that will help in enterprise decisions around HTML5 adoption for mobile application development projects.

"The expansive and complex HTML5 standard has finally reached final recommendation status, bringing to a close a long and meandering process of evolution. While the technology has had its challenges in producing effective mobile consumer apps, the reality of HTML5 is more positive for enterprises and for the ecosystem of tool and platform vendors that support them," said Al Hilwa, research director, Application Development Software at IDC.
