This IDC study provides an assessment of the current capabilities and business strategies of the leading voice and UC infrastructure providers in the worldwide unified communications market.

"Since there is no 'one size fits all' solution for UC adoption, customers have not only the advantage of having a variety of platforms to source their functionality but also the challenge of figuring out which solution is most appropriate for them," according to Rich Costello, senior research analyst, Unified Communications/Enterprise Communications Infrastructure. "For the purposes of this IDC MarketScape, we focus on the voice infrastructure solutions, but also for the first time we consider the entire UC portfolio. The results of the overall scores reflect IDC's analysis of the relative strength of each company. Yet IDC suggests that selecting a solution provider should be based not just on the overall score but also on factors such as whether providers meet the enterprise criteria for call control, user profiles, communications applications, cost savings, and/or revenue-generating opportunities."
