This IDC study reviews the performance of the worldwide PC market during the third quarter of 2011 (3Q11). It looks at the market performance of desktop and portable PCs in major geographies, including the United States, Western Europe, Japan, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ), and the rest of the world (ROW). Details on unit shipments, market value, and average selling prices (ASPs) are provided, along with a review of the competitive landscape of the top PC vendors. "After three quarters of corrections through volume contraction, the U.S. market is now stabilizing at 1.3% YoY growth. However, factors such as HDD shortage will have an effect on 4Q11 and the entire 1H12. Supply constraints on HDD, presidential politics, and weak economy led to outlook reduction," says Rajani Singh, research analyst, United States Quarterly PC Tracker. "4Q11 holiday season sales will provide a clearer picture of the overall consumer sentiment."
