This IDC study examines the cloud server market by analyzing the results of a survey fielded in July 2011. The analysis includes public cloud and private cloud drivers, leading vendors, and the likelihood of adoption over the next three years. "The futures of both public and private clouds are continuing to take shape and grow," said Katherine Broderick, senior research analyst, IDC's Enterprise Server and Datacenter Trends. "It is great to see an increased understanding in the market of the distinct differences between public and private cloud deployment models. IT organizations need to continue assessing these different ways of using technology and determine if either cloud computing type is a good fit on a workload-by-workload basis."
