This IDC study examines the current and future outlook of CVD (VDI) adoption, the challenges faced with adoption, and the storage architecture frequently used to support CVD. "Client virtual desktop (CVD), aka virtual desktop infrastructure, is a relatively young and rapidly growing segment of the IT industry," says Eric Sheppard, research director for Storage Software at IDC. "Although many organizations considering CVD will benefit from lessons learned during recent server virtualization deployments, the demands CVD is placing on storage can differ considerably from virtualized server environments. As such, industry stakeholders should expect CVD deployments to place new demands on datacenter infrastructure and plan accordingly."
