This IDC study outlines consumer perceptions of wireless services. Information was derived from IDC's 2011 U.S. Mobile Consumer Services Survey. The survey analyzes the plans, interests, and perceptions of consumers toward mobile services. Also included are discussions of recent trends in the U.S. mobile services market and guidance that highlights key implications and opportunities associated with market development. "There is an opportunity among mobile operators to introduce creative pricing strategies, given the hot demand for data, the impact of a multiple-device era, and the synchronization of devices," says Suzanne Hopkins, research analyst, Mobile Consumer Services, IDC. "Currently, the role of the family service plan is critical to consumers. Mobile operators are in a unique position and should consider offering service plans that emulate the family plan model by enabling consumers to share data usage between multiple devices."
