"Offshore BPO providers are establishing a bigger presence in the BPO services markets but are challenged by the continued tough economic climate, the need to find a means of differentiating themselves from each other, and the 'onshore' community of providers, as well as scaling this type of business," says David Tapper, vice president, Outsourcing and Offshore Services, at IDC. "While in the near term there appear to be significant opportunities, offshore providers need to build a long-term strategy as the delivery of services moves to a cloud-based model of which the impact of this shift to a new delivery system will require radical changes in the structure of the providers, their ecosystems, and the markets they target."
