This IDC study reviews the state of development of the Chinese online gaming market, which includes submarkets such as the market for client-end online games, Web-based games, PC standalone games, and mobile online games in 2010. Content includes the analysis on market vendors, market size, and the number of gamers, among others. At the same time, there are predictions on the development trends, growth drivers, and growth inhibitors in the Chinese gaming market from 2011 to 2015.

"The early stages of development of the online gaming market, characterized by its rapid rate of growth, have ended, and the market is now entering the middle phase of development: a period of stable growth. Although the rate of growth of the traditional MMOG market has slowed down, which affected growth rate of the entire market, it is expected that in the next few years, there will be about 100 million teenagers every year who will become new online gamers. Coupled with emerging market segments, such as Web-based games and games for children, the size of China's online gaming market will continue to grow. With regard to the new growth points in the market of Web-based games and mobile games, among others, gaming enterprises will need to latch onto the trend of short gameplay, as well as to the diversification and expansion of production lines. They should also focus on education and training of R&D staff, so to produce games of fine quality," says Tony Tan, senior research analyst, Vertical Industry Research and Consulting, IDC China.
