This IDC study intensively analyzes the development of the China game industry in 2014. It describes the development status and development structure of the China game industry in 2014; with regard to the online game industry, it analyzes the background environment of industry development, industry history, industry structure, sales income, market features, driving factors, and obstructive factors of the market and market development trends. It also tackles important market segments, including independently developed online games, client online games, web games, and mobile games. This study presents the market shares of main operators in the China online game industry and analyzes in detail eight key game developers and operators and four game operation platforms and channels. In addition, this study also analyzes online game open platforms, the PC console game market, the mobile game market, and Chinese game users. This study puts forth the development forecast and outlook of the China game industry and gives conclusion and advice.

"In 2014, the actual sales income of the China game market (including PC online, PC console, and mobile) reached RMB 114.48 billion, up by 37.6% compared with RMB 83.17 billion in 2013. In 2014, the China mobile online game market maintained a high growth rate and unquestionably became a major force driving the sales income of the China mobile game market. In 2015-2019, the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of sales income of the China game market is forecast to be 15.4%," says Zhang Yanan, research manager of IDC China Industry Research and Consulting Service Department.
