This IDC study examines small and medium-sized businesses' current printer and MFP brand and technology ownership, preferences for future brands, and use of document capture technology. "As printer and MFP ownership approaches saturation, three factors will characterize the SMB segment: the increasing appeal of multifunction devices, the critical role played by replacement and additional machines, and the rapid adoption of more sophisticated color laser and solid ink technology," says Justin Jaffe, IDC senior research analyst, SMB/Home Office. "It is important for vendors hoping to increase their share of this growing market to understand the changing brand and technology preferences for printers and MFPs."
