This IDC study formalizes the delivery mechanisms that are available to enterprises when adopting UC&C. The traditional customer premises equipment approach, historically used by enterprises in the deployment of the component parts of UC&C, with all its inherent costs of support and maintenance, together with the difficult migration path, makes hosted and managed services very attractive. Hosted UC&C gives the most flexibility, as buying service on an incremental "per seat per month" basis reduces contractual commitment and ongoing costs for unused hardware and software licenses. "With many enterprises looking to move to UC&C, there are now a number of options to be considered for deployment," said EMEA UC&C Research Manager Jon Neville. "Enterprises should assess whether managed, traditional DIY customer premises deployments or hosted solutions are appropriate for their business."
