This IDC study provides EMEA WLAN equipment shipment and revenue data for 1H11 and comparisons with 1H10 and 2H10. Shipment and revenue shares in 1H11 are provided for network interface cards and infrastructure by country and vendor. Shipment and revenue data for embedded solutions is not included in this study. Only IEEE 802.11-related products are covered in IDC's definition of WLAN. Included in the Excel file are the figures for EMEA market size and market shares of WLAN vendors.
A geographical split is included for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K., Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the Ukraine and separately for the rest of the Africa, the rest of the Middle East, and rest of Central and Eastern Europe.
"In the first half of 2011, the WLAN equipment market shrank in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, mostly due to a contraction in the consumer segment. However, organizations continued to invest in network infrastructure. For the second half of the year, we expect an increase in IT spending among large enterprises in order to further improve their infrastructures, as well as more intense competition among the major players on the WLAN market." - Research Analyst Ksenia Efimova, Communication Networks and Infrastructure, IDC CEMA
