This IDC study presents a forecast of the U.S. multichannel pay TV subscriber market in the United States. Subscribers for each delivery mechanism are forecast through 2015. Included are segment market share breakdowns and current and forecast household penetrations for each delivery technology. "Subscriber erosion is under way in the U.S. multichannel pay TV subscriber market as the combined effects of a lackluster economic recovery and the appeal of online video services take a toll on the market," said Greg Ireland, research manager, Connected Consumer: Video at IDC. "We forecast that erosion to continue, although we do not believe the bottom is dropping out of traditional pay TV services."
