This IDC study analyzes the market for consumer mobile broadband services that connect large-screen mobile devices to cellular networks in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It provides analysis of the recent developments in terms of the number of mobile broadband subscription in the MENA region and explains why MENA is a strong growth region for mobile broadband services and also the challenges that MENA operators face. "The use of mobile broadband by consumers has grown rapidly in recent years in the MENA region. A divide exists between GCC countries, with higher penetration rates, and non-GCC countries, which offer significant potential as mobile broadband markets but have so far recorded minimal penetration rates. Country market structures and demographic trends across the region are favorable to the growth of mobile broadband in the region. Nevertheless, operators will have to contend with challenges, such as the deployment of fiber-based broadband networks in many GCC countries and ongoing pressures on pricing.
