Abstract
This IDC study identifies common best practices firms are using
to provide high availability, recovery, and archiving for PACSs and
PACS data today.
"Providers are considering VNA solutions as a means
to break down medical imaging infrastructure silos and enable the
sharing of images from many different types of systems, such
as radiology, pathology, ophthalmology, pediatric cardiology, and adult cardiology," says
Laura DuBois, program vice president, Storage Solutions at IDC. "An
IDC study of U.S. healthcare providers indicated that 80% of
healthcare providers have plans to consolidate PACSs from multiple imaging
departments into an enterprise medical image archive. While centralized imaging
archives are gaining traction among providers, the practical difficulties of
building them remains an issue for providers."
