Abstract
This IDC study focuses on the transportation sector in Australia
and provides a map where short- and longer-term opportunities can
be found as well as highlights purchasing patterns for products
and services by market. It is part of a series
of reports focusing on specific vertical markets. Provided are actual
ICT market sizing and IT market share for 2009, along
with forecasts for 2010–2014, including five-year compound annual growth rates
(CAGRs).
"Despite being viewed as world leaders in previous decades, Australian
transport and logistics companies have failed to secure the productivity
improvements that can now be gained using existing/new technologies. There
are real opportunities for ICT vendors in 2011, particularly in
the areas of supply chain excellence and intelligent transport systems,"
says Melissa Martin, senior market analyst, IT Spending and Vertical
Markets, IDC Australia.
