Abstract
In 1H09, the Australia network equipment market was significantly impacted
by the global financial crisis (GFC), the Gershon report, and
the National Broadband Network (NBN). Despite this, the 2009 Australia
network equipment market experienced continued technology innovation in the datacentre,
enterprise infrastructure, and wireless LAN spaces. In 2H09, the market
showed a strong signal of recovery from the GFC.
"From
2010 onwards, next-generation datacentre initiatives are expected to drive the
Australia network equipment market. New networking technologies, such as unified
fabric and networking virtualization, are driving further consolidation of server,
networking, and storage environments. IDC believes that as a result,
the Australia networking equipment market will recover strongly in 2010,"
says Jamie Jin, market analyst, network technologies, IDC Australia.
