Abstract

This IDC study presents the findings of the Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) or APEJ Unified Communications (UC) and Enterprise x.0 Survey, 2009, which was conducted in 11 countries in the region — Australia, the People' s Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. The survey was conducted to understand enterprises' use of UC, collaboration, enterprise mobility, and enterprise telephony equipment and applications.

"IDC' s APEJ UC and Enterprise x.0 Survey, 2009 shows that enterprises in the region are cautiously optimistic about embracing UC in the coming year. The quantum of enthusiasm toward UC and collaboration varies across different countries. The findings show that APEJ enterprises that have been most severely impacted by the global economic crisis are more likely to rely on UC to drive scale of operation and efficiency. After the economic crisis, enterprises will be willing to invest in UC if the solutions leverage past investments and rationalize their current total costs of ownership (TCOs) and business communication application and system footprints," says Shalini Verma, research manager, Communications Research, IDC Asia/Pacific.
