Abstract

This IDC study, which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J9040104, presents the current environment surrounding the Japan IPTV service market and the latest market trends and forecasts.

"IPTV services need to create a new market by leveraging their interactive ability and to encourage generally passive television viewers to make more active moves. IPTV service providers (SPs) should regard the improvement of set-top box (STB) chips as an opportunity for market growth and should create more intuitive interfaces as well as attractive user experience based on new services such as video-based shopping services," says Yoko Ono, senior market analyst, Communications, IDC Japan.
