Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report IDC #J9370101) explores the use of infrastructure software/middleware products
such as OS, database management system, application server, system management,
and virtualization software, the factors emphasized by users in selecting
products, and the problems faced.
"Overall, many issues exist across the
various product and company segments. Currently, we can hardly say
that users are satisfied with existing infrastructure software/middleware. By resolving
the issues faced by user companies, vendors will be able
to promote the use of infrastructure software/middleware. There is still
room for the software market to grow. In particular, it
is important to educate user companies, provide support, and keep
abreast of the latest technologies," says Mitsuhiro Iriya, market analyst,
Software, IDC Japan software.
