Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of Japanese report
IDC #J10290181) summarizes the main trends in the 2010 Japan
server market with top 10 predictions, and analyzes their impact
in the market. This study examines the outlook for the
server market in 2010, taking into account the impact of
market contexts such as hardware, software, network technology, and server-related
markets; user IT spending trends; vendor competition; as well as
the economy and society.
"Structural changes to the Japan server market
are forecast to accelerate in 2010. In particular, there will
be an increasing shift in demand to low-priced products, and
a changeover to a market structure centered on x86 servers.
The background to this change lies in the heightened cost-cutting
awareness on the part of corporate users due to the
economic recession. Vendors need to accurately grasp the nature of
the structural changes in the market and incorporate these changes
into their future business outlook as early as possible," says
