Abstract
This study contains an assessment of the Western European cable
modem equipment market in 2008 and a forecast for 2009–2013.
Shipment and revenue expectations are provided by country for cable
modem termination systems (CMTS) and cable modems. Cable modems that
are integrated in set-top boxes for the purpose of adding
interactivity to TV services are excluded.
"Broadband net additions no longer
are the main driver for the development of the European
cable modem equipment market," said Jan Hein Bakkers, research manager
at IDC. "The migration to DOCSIS 3.0 and increasing bandwidth
are now the key factors that drive the market."
