Abstract
This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese
report IDC #J9340105) analyzes the Japan enterprise resource planning (ERP)
applications and solutions market in 2008, and provides forecasts for
2009–2013.
"The ERP solutions market is shifting from horizontal solutions (e.g.,
financial accounting and payroll) that have been the focus of
the market toward vertical solutions that have enterprise-specific needs such
as retail, inventory, and production management solutions. As a result,
ERP application vendors and solution providers should secure the services
of solution architects with industry/business process know-how and build partner
ecosystems. They should convert to long-term solution life-cycle models that
maintain relationships with user enterprises after implementation," says Tomoko Akagi,
group manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
