Abstract
This IDC study discusses the end-user survey conducted within the
United States during the SeptemberOctober time frame. It provides an
analysis of print volume trends within the datacenter, in-plant, and
service bureau print environments. These segments of the printing industry
certainly have not escaped the impact of the economic recession.
However, the study provides some surprising findings.
"Datacenters, in-plants, and service
bureaus reported surprising increases in print volumes. However, when looking
more closely, the transactional print volume increases are in large
part due to print aggregation and don' t reflect overall print
volume increases. Due to offset transfer, the story is clearly
different for a range of marcomm and customer correspondence. Nevertheless,
print environments will need to substantially evolve as they come
out of the recessionary environment." Riley McNulty, research manager,
Production and Large Format Print Markets
