At present, there have already been over 2,300 wood flooring enterprises in China, mainly being distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Yunnan, Beijing and Northeast etc. In 2013, the output of wood flooring was 689 million m2, up 14.06% over 2012. It is predicted that the output will increase by about 15% in 2014.

Seeing from product types, the production of solid wood flooring is mainly concentrated in Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong and Shandong; the places of origin for solid wood composite flooring are distributed widely, however, the Yangtze River Delta is one of main concentration areas; the laminate flooring is mainly concentrated in Jiangsu and Zhejiang of Yangtze River Delta, as well as their neighboring provinces: Anhui and Jiangxi; the bamboo flooring and sources of its raw materials are mainly distributed in Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Hunan, Anhui and Jiangsu etc bamboo-producing provinces, the total output of bamboo flooring in above 6 provinces accounts for 97.27% of the total one in China.

At present, the consumption structure in wood flooring industry is still in low and middle level of price, the composite floorings with high performance-price ratio (laminated composite flooring and solid wood composite flooring) are primary. In 2013, the consumption of wood floorings reached 400 million m2, both consumption and output ranked top 1 in world.

The constant and stable economy growth in China, acceleration of rural and urban construction, fast growth of real estate industry, the fast improvement of people's living standards, as well as constant heat-up of household decoration and support of national industry policies, all provide sound market environment for wood flooring and create huge market demands. The huge house demands brought about by the urbanization growing at the rate of 1%, the secondary decoration of house, the demands in official and commercial places and exploration of rural market, all will release huge market demands.

Influenced by such factors as population and price etc, compared with developed countries, the per capita area of wood flooring in China is still at low level. In Europe, the per capita area of only laminate flooring and solid wood flooring reaches 0.79 m2, while in China, the per capita area of wood flooring is only 0.03 m2, and the gap is huge, which reflects the huge potential demands in China in another aspect. In addition, stimulated by the construction of affordable house and "Building materials to Countryside" etc a serial of national policies, market demands of wood flooring will be bulging in next few years.
