This IDC Health Insights report identifies the major trends in 2012 that will impact the life science ecosystem, transforming business and technology. "As part of surviving the current waterfall of blockbuster drug patent expirations, life science companies are actively exploring new industry opportunities while concurrently advancing potential new blockbusters through the R&D process. In addition to active and aggressive efforts to improve operational effectiveness, companies need to expand their mindsets to consider new ways of accelerating their efforts, including working more effectively with prospective partners from outside of their traditional ecosystem. Those companies best able to adapt to change will be among the few that survive and flourish over the long term," according to Scott Lundstrom, vice president of research, IDC Health Insights.
