This IDC Health Insights top 10 healthcare predictions report identifies major trends that will impact the Asia/Pacific healthcare IT landscape in 2012. The report provides an analysis of market dynamics and trends affecting the acquisition, implementation, and use of technology by healthcare providers for the delivery and management of care both within the hospitals, as well as through the care continuum. It also seeks to address key issues, drivers, and challenges that healthcare executives must address as they perform their roles, especially around strategic planning, IT investment decision making, and technology project delivery. "The Asia/Pacific region is marked by its lack of homogeneity, and the healthcare IT implementation in the region is dependent on the IT maturity level of the country, as well as the size and resources available in individual organizations. The overall market for healthcare IT has been vibrant in the past year, and hopes abound that the trend will continue, even in the face of an economic downturn," says Sash Mukherjee, senior market analyst, IDC Health Insights, Asia/Pacific. "Clinicians, as well as IT administrators, are aligned with their demands for electronic health record (EHR)/electronic medical record (EMR) implementations and the contributing technologies, data management tools, security solutions, and integrated analytics. Mobility, however, is the single most significant contributor in healthcare for the region that can provide point-of-care access to patient information, support telemedicine initiatives, and empower the individual for personal health management."
