Abstract

The objective of creating this report was to produce a catalog of the Indian industry which if consulted, gives an in-depth view even to a novice. This report was created to specially help foreign consulting companies/consultants/managers responsible for making business plans for India. The author believes this report is an excellent tool even for academics and researchers who wish to know more about the India market. This report probes all levels of business segments within the telecommunications sector in India, from handsets to mobile content, and networks. This report is a non-technical study and aims to explain the prevalent business logic and trends within the telecom industry rather than exploring technical issues.

Issues like backbone networks are touched briefly in order to maintain the non-technical aspect of the report. The report doesn't explore the financial performance of any of the players mentioned.
