The global oil and chemical storage industry is poised for substantial 15% growth over the next four years. Asia, Middle East and North America are the three major regions in the world to witness construction of new oil and chemical storage sites by 2019. The three regions are expected to collectively spend about US$37 billion to build new oil and chemical storage facilities for minimizing supply risks and to aid their exports. The storage capacity in Asia alone is set to increase by 368 mmbbl or about 50% of the total global capacity growth by 2019. Regions such as Europe, Africa and South America are expected to witness relatively low oil and chemical storage capacity additions of 38.6 mmbbl, 29.6 mmbbl and 6.9 mmbbl respectively by 2019.
