By 2022 TPP and TTIP Activity Could Account for Over 30% of Global Automotive Trade

This groundbreaking study details the impact of global trade policies, both old and new, on the automotive industry as a whole. It first highlights which Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) are currently in force and which are under negotiation with respect to countries in North America (NA). With close to 44 agreements between NA countries and other nations, this region plays a dominant role in global trade. The research goes into fine detail as to the significance of these FTAs for OEMs and suppliers across different regions of the globe. It then extends into providing investment and trade prospects for value chain participants in different regions of the globe and covers how they can benefit from these FTAs. The study period is 2012 to 2022.

Key Questions this Study will Answer

  • How will future trade agreements including the TPP, TTIP, and other cross-border agreements influence global automotive trade?
  • Which are the specific global trade agreements that North America and the European Union are involved in that are expected to have an impact on vehicle production and sales?
  • Which OEMs are expected to benefit more over others from trade agreements already enforced and currently under review? In what ways will trade agreements affect local and global manufacturing for OEMs both favorably and unfavorably?
  • What are the general tariffs, non-tariff measures (NTMs), non-tariff barriers (NTBs) and other trade restrictions that are to be considered when OEMs are interested in investing in countries?
  • What strategic investment decisions need to be made on trade agreements in order for the global automotive industry to succeed?
