Abstract
This study analyses the European market for materials and chemicals used in
three core segments of smart grid infrastructure: materials for smart
e-meters; insulation and jacketing materials for HV/EHV/HVDC subsea and
underground Cables; and chemicals & materials for Li-ion battery systems for
large-scale energy storage. The key drivers and challenges related to each of
these segments is detailed in this study. Unit shipments and revenue forecasts
are given for the materials and the chemicals that are covered under the scope
of this study. Finally, a strategic outlook for these areas is provided.
