Abstract
This IDC Financial Insights report develops a framework for assessing
country risk and then applies it specifically to financial institutions.
We also explain how country risk fits into an enterprise
risk management strategy and what types of technology are necessary
to make it work. Finally, we examine the risk mitigation
advantages of contract outsource processes versus captive solutions. "In an
increasingly globalized economy, the risk factors affecting other nations have
become exposures for financial institutions here in the United States.
This is especially true given that firms continue to look
to outsourcing for cost leveraging. It is more important than
ever for an effective country risk management strategy to be
included in any ERM approach." Dana Wiklund, research director,
Global Risk Management
