Abstract

This IDC Financial Insights report delineates the strategic imperatives Singapore insurers are prioritizing on, as revealed at our Singapore Insurance Roundtable. The invitation-only event involved nine technology and business domain leaders from top local and regional insurers and three representatives from the vendor community. The document also shares findings from a brief follow-up survey conducted with participants after the Roundtable, aimed at providing a quick highlight on their forward-looking business and technology endeavors for the near to the medium term.

"This report enumerates the top strategic initiatives insurers in Singapore are focused on, as we emerged from the toughest economic environment in living history. These attending issues they are facing center around topics such multichannel delivery models, cost containment and business process management, data management and business analytics, alternative consumption of technology, and regulatory compliance," remarked Li-May Chew, CFA, associate research director, Asia/Pacific Financial Advisory Service. "We uncovered interesting gems at the session. For instance, we are seeing an evolution in the way insurers consume information technology — while cloud computing remains a nascent computing model, participants saw it having the potential to be among the most transformative developments in the world of technology."
