(The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007)的規定中,將在2012年禁止銷售普通白熾燈的服務。

Abstract
Unit demand to drop nearly 2% annually through 2015
US demand for lamps is projected to decline nearly two percent annually in
unit terms through 2015 as the market adjusts to the provisions of The Energy
Independence and Security Act of 2007, which will effectively ban the sale of
general service incandescent lamps starting in 2012. Compact fluorescent lamps
(CFLs) and halogen lamps are expected to replace most incandescent lamps.
Since both CFLs and halogen lamps have much longer useful lives than
incandescent lamps, the average replacement rate for lamps will decrease over
time, depressing unit demand. In addition, rising competition from
lightemitting diode (LED) products will reduce demand for many types of lamps.
However, because both CFLs and halogen lamps are more expensive than the
incandescent lamps they will replace, the value of the lamp market is expected
to increase 1.2 percent annually to $6.2 billion in 2015. In addition, demand
will be supported by the economic recovery and consequent rebound in building
construction and manufacturing activity.
Halogen lamps, LEDs to be favored over CFLs
CFLs are among the most energyefficient replacements for conventional
incandescent lamp; however, halogen lamps outperform CFLs in terms of color
rendering, and they do not contain mercury. As a result, many consumers may
initially favor the less efficient and less costly halogen lamps as
replacements for incandescent products.
LEDs also pose a serious threat to future lamp demand. Although their high
price has limited usage in traditional lighting applications so far,
technological innovations that reduce costs and improve performance will
likely lead to the widespread adoption of LED-based lighting devices. In the
long term, lamps are expected to lose market share to LEDs, especially in such
markets as motor vehicles and nonresidential buildings.
Motor vehicle market to be fastest growing
Buildings account for the majority of lamp demand, representing approximately
60 percent of the total in 2010. Through 2015, the building market will be
buoyed by the replacement of inefficient incandescent lamps and by the
recovery in building construction activity. Through 2015 the most rapid gains
are expected in the motor vehicle market. Motor vehicle lamp demand is
projected to increase 6.0 percent annually to $670 million in 2015, supported
by the rebound in motor vehicle production from extremely low 2010 levels. In
addition, the rising penetration of more expensive, better performing, high
intensity discharge (HID) headlamps will support value gains.
