This report presents IDC Energy Insights' top 10 predictions for the European, Middle Eastern, and African utility industry in 2012. The findings of this report were also presented as part of a Web conference on December 15, 2011. According to Roberta Bigliani, IDC Energy Insights, head of EMEA, "Europe, Middle East, and Africa is a patchwork of economies, on one side there are eurozone countries facing a very uncertain future, on the other there are energy-resource-rich countries and under-developed economies. Utilities active in the region must get in motion to execute huge investments to achieve challenging energy policy objectives. ICT is penetrating utilities' business activities more profoundly, and will play a pivotal role in enabling the implementation of next-generation utilities. IDC Energy Insights predicts EMEA utility industry IT spending will reach $16.1 billion in 2012."
